Akela and Figaro had such nice puppies in 2003 that I wanted to repeat the breeding for the puppy I would keep from Akela's last litter. I had waited a long time for an Akela puppy. I had 6 females from which to choose! It was not easy. Up to the last day, I did not know if it would be Miss Pink or Cranberry! My friend told me that I should look at their movement to help with my decision and I started with Kezza. At 8 weeks, she looked like she was in the show ring! It would be VERY hard to beat that. When Miss Pink did not want to move (it was cold outside), my decision was made! I called her Kalee for a few weeks, but it did not fit her, so I came back to the first name I had thought of....." Kezza" in honor of Connie Johnson's first winning Vizsla, "Geza". Connie was the breeder of my first Vizsla, Kysska and I wanted to remember Connie with my new dog. She would have loved to have seen her. Kezza is very spunky and curious! Stella, who lives with our daughter, Laurie, is her sister.

Kezza was her curious self on a summer walk in Page Meadows in 2009.  She, Mazey and Moxzie explored the trees as they often do (in case there might be a quail in the bushes) while Sweet Old Girl Akela, stayed out of trouble just trotting along side of us. Well, M and M came out, but Kezza lingered and suddenly let out a yelp. Bob and I knew what had happened and sure enough, she came back with a muzzle full of porcupine quills! We had often mentioned that we think there are porcupines in the woods because years ago our sweet Vennka got quilled there. Bob started taking them out with his fingers, but Kezza was too wiggly. A lady came by who was walking her dog and asked if we needed help! We sure did... She held Kezza's back end, I held her legs off the ground and Bob started extracting the quills.... lots of quills, which by their placement on her muzzle showed that she had checked out the critter, but not mouthed it as Mazey had done years ago, ending up with quills inside her mouth! Bob was able to get all the quills out without any fussing from Kezza who promptly seemed to forget the incident as soon as she was let go to run again! The lady who helped mentioned that Kezza looks a lot like Missy who lives close to her.... Well, Kezza is Missy's MOTHER! Kezza did not even have any swelling, probably because we were able to get the quills out so quickly.

Kezza had a litter of six very nice puppies with CH Cporfld N Matra's American Pride "Banner" in August 2007. Kezza and Int'l BIS Gr CH Sugar Kokeny CGN TD JH "Budha" (an Hungarian import) had a litter of seven puppies on December 12th 2009. She was bred to BISS CH Copper Creek Toscanini’s GSM MH and had NINE puppies on February 12th, 2011. I liked the litter so much that I hoped to have a Kezza-Tosci puppy someday. They were bred again and she had eight puppies on January 19th, 2012. I decided for sure that this was her last litter and if I wanted a Kezza-Tosci puppy, I would need to keep one from this litter. It was a hard decision, but it turned out to be her last puppy that I kept, just like she was Akela’s last female puppy! Kurtzi is a wonderful addition to our family and I think that Kezza likes having one of her puppies in the pack.

Kezza surprised me with 3 Senior Hunter passes out of 4 tries at a double hunt test in September 2009. We did not train at all during the hot summer months, so we needed to do some training! We had trained a few days in the Spring and then trained 3 days before the tests. With Kezza, I have trained her to wait until I send her to get the bird which is the Master Hunter level. On Saturday, September 18th, she did not retrieve the bird which really stumped me. She Loves to get the bird and bring it to me... what was wrong? I worked with her a little, but she would not pick up the bird. I was going to pull her, but decided to give it a try... Well, the next day, with the right command, she had a beautiful retrieve! Kezza is now a SENIOR HUNTER working on her Master Hunter!

Kezza is a real "Princess" who seems to know that she is a very nice looking Vizsla. She often self stacks and looks around to see if I am looking at her! She is a "parader" who likes to prance around..... especially with a bird in her mouth!
